Connections between Friedrich Froebel and Wheelock College: Past, Present, and Future

The strong connections of Lucy Wheelock to Froebel, the intersections of their work with young children and those who educate them, and the existence of a wealth of source material in the Wheelock Library Archives, were among the many reasons why Wheelock was the perfect place for the Society’s first American conference. Join us for a reception and brief presentation by Dr. Suzanne Pasch, Director of the Center for Scholarship and Research, about the Wheelock/Froebel connection and future work of the Center. The Wheelock Archives will be on display for guests to enjoy.

Alumni Association Continuing Education Event - Keeping Kids Safe Online
It seems that overnight there is a whole new world for kids, and for you as parents and teachers. If your child is not "online" already, he or she may soon be joining the 10 million children who are using the Internet. The good news is that the online world offers children experiences that are educational and rewarding. However, this new medium also can present unsafe situations. Just as you would not allow your child to wander alone into unknown territory, you also would not want him or her to interact on the Internet without parental guidance and supervision. Join us for this discussion about ways in which you can keep your child safe online and on their cell phones, and how to get involved, stay informed, and become an advocate for kids online.
