Graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music, after receiving the Best Achievement Scholarship, Marta Gómez has developed an extensive music career in the US which has placed her as one of the most interesting singer songwriters on the world music scene today. Marta and her group perform a repertoire of original compositions based on a vast amount of rhythms from Latin America. On her songs, Marta mixes the joy of the Caribbean with the nostalgia of the Andes adding jazz and pop elements, taking the authenticity of South American indigenous folk music into a hip new realm.

"Gomez has a delightfully musical voice that suggests the feel of a breezy summer day" Billboard magazine, Nov 2004

"Colombian diva Gomez mixes a wide range of Colombian cumbia and bambuco, Argentine zamba, Cuban Son and peruvian Lando, elegantly distilling it down to a set of spare melodies and subtle rhythtms...Her Music is strong as so is her voice." "The Village Voice" (New York) August 2005

"One of the most intriguing new faces on the jazz and world music scene" —Jay Miller, The Patriot Ledger, Nov 2004

Her songs are modern folk tales dressed up in romantic jazz arrangements —James Reed, The Boston Globe, February 2004

Join Marta and her band for a fantastic evening of music and song - all to benefit Safe Passage, whose mission is to empower the poorest, at-risk children of families working in the community of the Guatemala City garbage dump, by creating opportunities and fostering dignity through the power of education. Safe Passage shares the vision that within a safe and caring environment, every child participates in an integrated program that fosters optimism, good health, educational achievement, self-esteem, and confidence. Children and parents discover that, through their own efforts, they can move beyond poverty.

Join us in our efforts to provide hope and opportunities for the Safe Passage children and their families.
